A Passion for Service and Top Notch Craftsmanship
Bobby Sanders discovered remodeling was his life’s passion by accident. After receiving his BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989, he found himself working in sales and customer service positions. In 1992, he began working for Dell Computer where he ultimately ended up handling all the company’s escalated complaint calls for Michael Dell. That experience laid the groundwork for understanding how important customer service and listening to client feedback is for a successful business.
While working for Dell, Bobby and his wife Becky purchased a 1940’s bungalow in Hyde Park. To say that it was a fixer upper is an understatement, but they weren’t intimidated and saw the home’s potential. They decided to take on the remodeling themselves with exactly zero experience. Every weekend and vacation was spent working on the house. Becky took architecture classes and Bobby watched Bob Villa every Saturday, read every book he could get his hands on at the library, and learned from a variety of helpful folks with construction backgrounds. It was during this DIY remodel that Bobby realized how much he loved construction. In fact, it was more rewarding than anything else he had done professionally. As soon as they could, they moved to Amarillo to be near their families and start Sanders Design Build.
The eighteen-year-old firm has been recognized nationally on Remodeling Magazine’s Top 550 Remodelers List and as a Big50 Remodeler. Locally, Sanders Design Build has earned the Remodeler of the Year award from the Texas Panhandle Builders Association. The firm is also members of the National Association of Home Builders, NAHB Remodelers, and The Professional Remodelers Council.
Over the years, Bobby has continued his education and earned the designation of Certified Graduate Remodeler™ (CGR), which indicates completion of a comprehensive curriculum, a minimum of five years remodeling industry experience, and a proven track record of successful project management. He is also a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) making him an expert in designing and building remodeled spaces to allow retirees and older adults to remain in their homes safely, independently and comfortably.
